Quick time guess: What is one thing that will make photographers equally giddy with excitement and nervous? If you answered “photographing a fellow photographer” then you are correct!
Karey Bancroft is a photographer who, over the last 4 years, has transitioned from a 25 yr career in graphic design and shooting seniors photos to shooting “portraits” of florals that she grew herself. After moving from Texas to Charlotte she took up gardening as a way to keep busy during the pandemic. Looking for new ways to create art with her camera, she began photographing her own flowers which ultimately evolved into making art collages from the photos.
Her bright and colorful art pieces were so unique and eye-catching that she was awarded a slot in the ArtPop Street Gallery Class of 2025. This distinction allowed her work to be featured all over the Charlotte area as well as in Times Square!
She is now ready to expand and grow her work into a business selling originals, prints, and products.
She came to us needing “beautiful imagery for my new website that tells the story of what I do; especially because most people do not understand my process.”
Our goal was to do just that as well as to elevate Karey’s online presence with imagery that sets her apart as an artist and as an inspiration to her contemporaries – all while staying true to the bold, whimsical, nature-inspired, and nostalgic values of her brand.
Turns out, we had NO reason to be nervous. Every step of working with Karey was a dream! She fully understood our process, went above and beyond in her shoot prep, and easily understood directions in front of the camera. And, we’ve gotta say, when a fellow photographer raves about your work and the gallery you created for them…well, it just doesn’t get much better than that!

Tell Us More About You, Karey
My name is Karey Bancroft; I am an art photographer and collage creator. As an avid gardener, I love to use photos of botanicals that I have grown in my art, along with other elements that I have painted or drawn. These original pieces are then used to design beautiful items including silk scarves, fine stationery and tableware. My 25 years of experience as a professional photographer and graphic designer have helped me launch Karey Bancroft Studio.
What Makes Karey Bancroft Studio Unique?
I believe that because I grow my own ‘subjects’ to use in my art, my process is unique. The combination of photos of the unusual flowers I grow with other design elements makes my work notable.
What Inspired You to Start Your Business?
Honestly, I created this business for me – to have purpose, fun with creativity, and make new relationships. My hope is that it inspires others to do the same.
What is the Primary Message You Want to Convey to Your Clients/Customers?
Flowers can be enjoyed year round, indoors, with my art originals, prints and products.
What is the Main Thing That Has Helped You Grow in Business?
I am determined, a hard worker, creative thinker and never give up on a challenge. My nickname has been “Can-Do Karey”.
What Else Would You Like to Share?
For inspiration, I love gardening books, vintage botanical illustrations, and publications that inspire women to start a creative business and lifestyle. In terms of resources and support, I belong to a female-business led mastermind group of artists. And my favorite mantra is “Listen to the Universe, there are always answers. And trust your gut!”
